When it comes to inflicting damage, shamans perform rather poor in melee combat and due to poor base melee damage, combined with the low damage of daggers. But like scholars, shamans have a passive skill poisoned tip which is always dealt, so they compensate for poor meleee damage with poison damage over time, unless opponents have the passive skill constitution. Shamans have no access to ranged weapons like scouts and low base defences and no access to light armour, so they will be vulnerable to harm.
When it comes to camping, shamans are can get the highest score in herbalism at man-arms-rank. But most importantly, they cure the injuries allies get from either combat or random events while the party visits a campsite. Like doctors, shamans can't restore their own endurance during combat, so you should look after them if you bring only one doctor or shaman into the fray.
|Poisoned tip||Always inflicts the status effect of poison||Passive||N.a.|
|Restore||Restores 30-45 endurance||Attack||1 turn.|
|Curse||Lower attack and defences of the target. Defence is lowered by 10% point, accuracy or melee damage are reduced by 20%||Attack||? turn.|
|Terrify||Forces the target to move away from the shaman with all hexes available.||Attack||? turns.|
Passive skills adviceEdit
Depending on your needs in combat, it's adviced to either pick the following passive skills
Defence and melee offensiveEdit
In case you would like to improve both defence and melee offensive skills of a doctor it is adviced to pick the following passive skills Sword and Constitution. With the sword skill, you improve their melee damage by 5 points and the shield gives them a 25% chance to block damage (which lowers damage by 25%). This will reduce the damage a doctor receives from every melee and ranged attacks by 6.25% on average.
The constitution skill halves their chance that they will get poisoned. Since a doctor can't use its ability on itself, it means that a sole doctor can become incapacitated from poison if the battle lasts long enough. Poison is common in both campaigns.
In the table below you can find information about equipment access for each rank.
