This page describes many aspects of combat in Expeditions: Conquistador.

Ranks and rank bonusesEdit

Every time an unit gets promoted to a better rank, they will get 5% increase in base melee damage, base accuracy (for example, 80 * 1,10 = 88% at veteran rank) and a five percent-points increase in defence (for example, 15% + 5% = 20). Apart from that, they get three points to distribute among tasks and one passive skill to select.

The base melee damage of an unit is not the damage at recruit rank with a certain weapon, but a specific number. Based on tests, each class has the following base damage.

WeaponsEdit

Expeditions: Conquistador has a few weapons for every type of troop to choose from, with some weapons being restricted to natives and some to Spanish units. Each weapon adds damage to melee or the ranged damage of the unit and has a certain critical hit multiplier. In case of ranged damage, it also determines the point from which accuracy is starting to receive larger penalties.

Damage with weapons can be improved by allocating equipment to units and there a some passive skills which improve damage under specific circumstances, but you will not find any items which can be classified as weapon and can be given to troops to boost damage or give other beneficial properties in combat.
